Twitter has introduced the Tip Jar, which allows content creators to earn money for their tweets.

Twitter, the microblogging platform, has introduced a new way for content creators to earn money. Starting this week, some Twitter users will be able to add Tip Jars to their accounts, enabling their followers to reward them for their acts on the social media site.

Some Twitter profiles will have the latest Tip Jar icon next to the Follow button on the profile page. Those who can or choose to add the feature to their profile will be able to allow a list of payment services or sites from which their audience can donate to their cause. The Tip Jar icon will show all of these payment options.

Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal, and Venmo are among the services listed by Twitter in a recent blog post. Inside Twitter Spaces, Android users will be able to submit tips. Twitter clarifies that it does not profit from these recommendations.

In the blog, Esther Crawford, Senior Product Manager at Twitter, writes, "You drive the conversation on Twitter, and we want to make it easier for you to help each other beyond Follows, Retweets, and Likes."

For the time being, users of Twitter in English on iOS and Android will be able to see the feature. For the time being, Tip Jar has only been made available to a select number of people from around the world. This culture is made up of “creators, artists, experts, and nonprofits.” Twitter promises to make the most recent functionality accessible to more users and in more languages in the future.

Those who want to add the feature to their profiles can do so by selecting the payment service of their choice and adding their accounts to the service as a viewer option. Any suggestions from the audience after the setup will be sent directly to the mentioned account.

According to Twitter, this is the platform's first step toward allowing users to obtain and display monetary support on Twitter. The platform could introduce a new revenue generation model for content creators in the future. Though this is only anticipated once, Tip Jar anticipates increased usage of the microblogging service.
