Google will update policy to allow crypto wallets to advertise on its network.

In regards to cryptocurrencies, Google recently announced a minor change to their advertising policy. Beginning August 3, Google will allow cryptocurrency exchanges and digital wallets to advertise on its platform to consumers in the United States.

A blog post by the search giant says the new rules only apply to wallets in the United States, but they will apply to advertisements worldwide. In August, the Internet giant plans to revise its financial goods and services policy. Crypto wallets must be registered with FinCEN and federal or state-chartered banks in order to benefit from Google's new policy.

“All prior Cryptocurrency Exchange certificates will be cancelled on August 3, 2021,” the statement stated. When the application form is issued on July 8, 2021, advertisers must request new Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets accreditation from Google.”

However, Google Ads will continue to prohibit advertisements for Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). DeFi trading protocols and adverts that promote the acquisition, sell, or trade of cryptocurrencies or similar products will be prohibited as well.

Companies will also be unable to promote cryptocurrency loans, token liquidity pools, celebrity cryptocurrency endorsements, unhosted wallets, and uncontrolled decentralised apps (DApps). All advertisers will be required to follow local regulations in each place where their ads are displayed.
